EARTH SEA STARLIGHT

2PM SATURDAY 28 FEBRUARY 2026

The Sydney University Madrigal Society is proud to present Earth, Sea, Starlight, an afternoon of a cappella music resonating through the unique space of The Picture House Theatre.

EARTH

the mortal coil, earthly passions

SEA

restlessness, voyaging, wild beauty

STARLIGHT

wayfinding as we walk under the stars

To represent these themes we have compiled a delightfully eclectic programme, from the Renaissance madrigals of Jacques Arcadelt, John Bennet, and Claudio Monteverdi, to the contemporary compositions of Michael McGlynn, Andrea Khoza, and Australian composer Emma Storey.

The Sydney University Madrigal Society (MADS) began in 1999 as four students singing madrigals around a piano. We have since evolved into an eclectic chamber choir, performing Renaissance madrigals, chansons, villancico, lute songs, and everything else that strikes our fancy. We have brought our light-hearted, spirited energy to Medieval Faires big and small. Following our past concerts The Forest at the End of the World, The Odyssey, and Hymns to the Unsacred, we are delighted to now bring you Earth, Sea, Starlight.
